1. Drop the keys with us
Bring the car to the workshop, or arrange free local collection within 5–10 miles of Lincoln. Outside that area we'll quote a small fuel & driver-time charge before booking.
MOT drop-off & repair service
Drop your car off at our Lincoln workshop and we'll take it to a trusted local DVSA-approved MOT centre on your behalf. If anything fails, we call you first — then fix it in-house once you give us the go-ahead. One garage, start to finish.
We don't carry out the MOT test ourselves.
HerbieTech Auto Ltd is not a DVSA-approved MOT testing station, so we can't issue MOT certificates. Instead we present your vehicle to a trusted local DVSA-approved MOT centre and handle any repairs needed if it fails — with your approval.
How it works
Bring the car to the workshop, or arrange free local collection within 5–10 miles of Lincoln. Outside that area we'll quote a small fuel & driver-time charge before booking.
Your vehicle is driven to a trusted local DVSA-approved MOT testing station and presented for its official MOT on your behalf.
If the MOT comes back with fails or advisories, we phone you with a clear explanation and an honest quote — nothing is touched without your approval.
Approved repairs are carried out in our workshop and the vehicle is taken back for the free retest, so you collect a car that's ready to drive away with a fresh MOT.

Why use us
If the MOT centre flags anything, we deal with it directly. You get one phone call, from us, with a plain-English explanation.
Brakes, suspension, steering, lighting, exhaust and engine fault codes are all repaired in our own workshop — no second labour charge from a third party.
We always quote and wait for your go-ahead before touching anything. You stay in control of what's spent.
Drop the keys (or let us collect) and get on with your day. We'll call when it's ready.
FAQ
No. HerbieTech Auto Ltd is not a DVSA-approved MOT testing station — we don't issue MOT certificates. What we offer is a drop-off service: you leave the car with us, we take it to a trusted local DVSA-approved MOT centre, and if anything fails we call you to confirm before fixing it.
Collection is free within roughly 5–10 miles of our Lincoln workshop. Further out we charge a small £15–£25 collection fee to cover fuel and driver time, agreed before we book you in. Outside the wider Lincoln area we'll look at it case by case and confirm any cost upfront — no surprises.
We call you straight away with a plain-English explanation of each fail or advisory item and an honest quote. Nothing gets done without your go-ahead. Once you approve the work we carry out the repairs in our own workshop and take the car back for the free MOT retest.
You pay the standard DVSA MOT fee (set by government — currently up to £54.85 for a car) plus any collection charge if you're outside the free area. Repairs, if needed, are quoted separately at our workshop labour rate and only carried out with your approval.
Most UK garages that offer MOT collection either run their own MOT bay or use a partner station — a lot advertise free local collection and charge the standard DVSA fee plus repairs. Our setup works the same way: we partner with a trusted local DVSA centre, keep collection free nearby, and handle any repairs in-house so you only deal with one garage start to finish.
For an MOT-only drop-off, usually the same working day. If repairs are needed after a fail, we'll give you a realistic timeframe when we call with the quote — most common repairs (brakes, bulbs, suspension, emissions) are turned around within 24–48 hours subject to parts.
Drop the keys with us — we'll handle the MOT and any repairs in one go.
